John Hawkes: Second Skin

From Porcelain & Wood

Squatting. Muscular & lean. In snow & rain & heat & dust. By
tracks & bridges - fords & junctions. Pissed upon,
spat upon, bloodied & denied

he'll pinch a fisheye from his brother's pot,
rest it on rice to catch the pungent juice &
eat...pinch

tofu from the pot of his neighbor &
bamboo shoots from his father's pot &
grubs & mushrooms from his...&

when all the bits are gone, he'll spoon the broth to his bowl &
lift it like the moon &
drink.
